I was in Perot Walker's 6th grade class. Every year Mr. Walker had his students create an extensive leaf collection. We learned the Latin names of each tree and shrub and were introduced to the principal of taxonomy. He read his notes to us and we listened carefully and copied them all down into the collection and the appendix that accompanied them. He looked over our work and corrected any inaccuracies. We got to go outside a lot.
